Kru Konnection: Part 1

Every year, a few students make the ill-advised choice to put the wellbeing of inanimate carbon fiber vehicles above that of their academics, their family, and their sanity. Why? We dunno. But we need these poor, misguided folks because they’re so very necessary — they organize SRS into action and make some really tough decisions: Should I sleep or buggy… study or buggy… buggying while studying while sleeping? Eh, worth a shot. So without further ado:

introducing: A handful of our Kru members!

(more to come in the next few weeks)

Thomas Anderson

junior|Co-Chair

Q: What goals do you have for this buggy year?

A: To make SRS a well oiled machine that is able to build new buggies, compete for the win on raceday, and to see improvement in every member of the team.

Q: This year is 100 years of buggy and 35 years of SRS. What does that mean to you?

A: That it's about time we had our second 20 year record.

Q: What were your previous roles on the team?

A: Last year I was one of the push captains and the year before that I was a push-chanic [editors note: pusher and mechanic… does'n’t quite roll off the tongue.]

Nina Prakash

Q: This year is 100 years of buggy and 35 years of Spirit Buggy - What does that mean to you?

A: Buggy has been an enormous part of my experience at CMU. I never feel a stronger sense of belonging, to a community and to this campus, than I feel when I'm doing buggy. I'm so proud to be a part of this team and excited to celebrate my last year of buggy in such a big year!

Q: What were your previous roles on the team?

A: Driver! [Editors’s note: gotta love the consistency.]

Tomi Akin-Sodipo

I’m also thankful for the SPIRIT Buggy community, it’s been great!

Q: What goals do you have for this buggy year?

A: Help complete the build of the new buggy.
