2025 Carnival Day 2: FRIDAY

Let’s go Day 2!!!

SRS came out repping our magenta raceday shirts, green fall sweatshirts, and blasting music from the truck. The structure of races were a bit different this year, because of a two-hour delay and the impending rain. Today, we raced the All Gender A, Spirit 40 Exhibition, and Alumni Exhibition. (Men’s and Women’s heats are both scheduled for tomorrow and, should it rain, will be pushed to next weekend.)

All Gender A was incredibly close through the freeroll and chute, so we spun and got a reroll. (Everyone was safe). During the reroll, our pusher tripped resulting in a pushbar DQ.

Spirit 40 Exhibition was a special race in which 40 SRS students and alums pushed the buggies up the backhills to commemorate our 40th year. After each transition, the pushers added to the massive mob of SRS people running from Hill 3 to the finish line.

The Alumni Exhibition (team: Glenn P, Chris F, Tom F, Evan M, Joe F) was super close through freeroll. Unfortunately, because the other buggy was on the inside during our chute turn, we clipped the outside bales.

The SRS 40th Alumni Dinner was wonderful. Older SRS trophies were brought out from the CMU Archive department, as were photo albums (and Quantum Leap) from Tom Felmley’s garage. Alumni and staff were invited to speak about the impact of the SRS on individuals, the community, and the campus. Here are some pictures from the event.

Afterwards, we visited Hotel Indigo for good times, food, and merriment. Everyone is hype for the races/events tomorrow. We have:
